Development and Relief Foundation firmly supports the Declaration of Rights of the Child as provided by the United Nations General Assembly. In fact, our core values match the articles in this declaration. Article 2 states that children have “the right to special protection for the child’s physical, mental, and social development.” According to UNICEF, there are over 2 million orphans living in the streets in Iraq. We strive to decrease this number by providing orphans with foster families, financial support, clothing, food, and education.
Currently, DRF supports over 6,600 orphans thanks to its generous donors. For $600 (US) a year (or $50/month), you can support an orphan in our program. Donate by check, money order, credit card, or PayPal. Within six to eight weeks, you will receive more information (e.g., picture and card) about the orphan you support. Checks and money orders can be sent by mail to 7944 N. Maple Ave. #115 Fresno, CA 93720 USA. Credit card and PayPal donations can be made online through our donation's page.
Every child is one caring adult away from being a success story.
Fighting poverty and empowering women are some of the Development and Relief Foundation's objectives. According to the Ministry of Planning, Iraqis make less than $2.2 (US) a day. Those that struggle the most are nearly 2 million widows. With high illiteracy rates, women struggle to find employment. DRF provides women with income generating skills, such as sewing to help them support their families. Not only has DRF provided tailoring skills to women, but also we have provided sewing machines thanks to the Sepaus Foundation of Orange County. Help us empower women. Make a donation that will help women in supporting their families.
